Today we candled our eggs. We could only see through the white ones, all of the white eggs looked as if they were healthy and growing embryos. Here are a few pictures we found on the internet.To the right is an actual picture of an embryo in an egg, when we candled our eggs we could see the veins and we could also see the little eye like in the picture. To the left is a drawing of a embryo in the egg at 5 and 10 days.

The yolk sack is the chicks only source of food. The yolk stalk is attached to to the chick like umbilical cord. As the chick grows the yolk sack gets smaller because the chick consumes it.
